Show Me

She was curious...

The Barrington library is unique...and Miss Portia Carew just peeked into a tempting tale of desire--forbidden, lusty, and desperately erotic desire. She wants more. Much more. How fortunate that she is alone and hidden... well, almost hidden. That handsome rake Mark Knightson has witnessed her session of secret pleasure and he knows she's ready to experience what only he can give her. Delicious, unmentionable, carnal delight...

Reviews

Five Stars!!! Show Me "...entertains; it takes charge of your senses, and has a light joie de vivre that encapsulates the Regency era. And that's one of the most important goals of writing. When an author can captivate your attention you know she's done her job and surpasses it. Ms. Hart has more than achieves to entertain this reader with the loving and sexy antics of this couple in Show Me. Both Mark and Portia set the pages aflame when they're together and their bawdy delight in each other comes through effortlessly. Show Me is an entertaining story, and at times combustible, which shows two characters who learn to love and develop as individuals in the process. This is a must read historical erotica, set in the English Regency period, from first time author Ms. Hart." --Aggie Tsirikas, Just Erotic Romance Reviews

8/10 "Set amongst the pomp and pagentary of the Regency Era Show Me is chock full of the sexual heat we have come to expect of the Aphrodisia line. Watching Portia mature both sexually and emotionally through out the story is very satisfying. While Mark's journey seemed harder, taking a nasty shock and an awful loss before he could get past his preconceived notions but more worthwhile for the effort. Right from the start be drawn into this incredible tale and plan time to read through as Ms. Hart gives no pause until the very last. If you find yourself finishing this book at 2am don't say I didn't warn you." --Megan's Romance Reviews

Three Stars "Mark and Portia are entertaining leads in this racy romp." Kristi Ahlers, Romantic Times Bookclub Magazine

"SHOW ME is a hard-hitting story of one woman's obsession with a man and his equal obsession with her. The sex is plentiful and there is even a single incident of female on female action, in case you get bored with more traditional fare. I guarantee you will need to catch your breath, close your eyes and breathe deeply to calm your racing heart while reading this book of historical lust in the English countryside." -- CeCe Johns, Romance Reviews Today.

Miss Portia Carew slipped into the library, closing the door behind her. Not even a full day at Willowhill Hall and she'd already had enough of Mama browbeating her about marriage. Worse, she'd noticed the other guests looking at her and whispering behind their hands. Whispering about her.

Society agreed she'd been wronged, but still the circulating rumors and accumulating doubts continued.

Portia ran her gloveless fingertips along the book spines, her fingernails making a satisfying snap each time it caught the edge of a book. The staccato sounds pleased her, soothed her.

A title caught her eye: Clarissa by Richardson. Her lip curled. She wouldn't end up like that silly ninny. Dying over being compromised? Not she!

She stomped her foot, her slippered feet almost silent against the soft rug beneath her. Her irritation built again. No, not irritation. Anger.

Never mind that all the rumors were true--she'd fought hard to keep her parents' trust and bamboozle the rest of her social circle.

It mostly worked.

She scanned the book titles, noting the uniformity of the golden bindings. Was this a show library, or a real one? If she pulled out a book, would any of the pages be cut showing they had been read? The book bindings varied in color: red moroccan leather encompassed an entire set of encyclopedias, and farther down she spotted olive-green spines.

She looked at other shelves. Dull geography, duller politics and mind-numbing encyclopedia entries. Wasn't there anything of interest?

She circled, taking in the small room.

A series of bay windows brought in filtered light, filtered for the translucent curtains were drawn. Fitted bookshelves of golden hued wood covered the remaining walls from floor to ceiling. Two ladders stood affixed to a brass rail, making them steadier and easier to move along the shelves.

She scanned them, her head tilting back as she took in those book spines out of reach. All were volumes of tedious likeness, no sign of any romantic novel, or stirring adventure. Unless...

On the upper shelves, the books were a riot of sizes and bindings. Some, she noticed, were little more than cheap paper.

That's where the good reading lay.

Gathering her skirts of her high-waisted gown, she ascended the ladder. No titles were written on any of the spines. On the thicker books, initials had been imprinted, but nothing more.

Curiosity piqued, Portia pulled out a volume. The Seduction of Julia.

She almost put it back. She didn't care for another rendition of Clarissa. Resting the bottom of the book on the shelf, she paused. If it was another variation on that abysmal story her mother had forced her to read, why had she not heard of this book, if it were meant to be "improving"?

Portia flipped to the first page, staying atop the ladder. If it were no good, she'd put it back and find another.

###

Lord Darkmoor groaned. The tongues of ...

###

Portia shut the book with a snap. Breathing hard, she shoved it back into its place on the shelf. She steadied herself on the ladder. Imagine! Such things in writing!
